HHALO INC is a landscape architecture practice that walks the line between place-making and art practice. We celebrate and insist on the humanity in our work, engaging with traditional tools of landscape design and close involvement with the land and its stewards. We work in coastal, desert and agricultural contexts on a wide range of typologies. Estates, single family homes, hospitality projects and cultural landscapes are our areas of expertise.
As a collective of designers, we do not subscribe to one specific style, but rather are driven by the history of a site, the architectural integrity of a building, and the need to think critically about landscapes in today’s changing ecological and cultural climate.
HHALO partners with local installers and gardeners to form long-term relationships and hyper personalized gardens. We celebrate the installers and laborers that make our projects, highlighting their essential role throughout the process. Our ultimate goal is to achieve authenticity and originality in our work, and to have fun along the way.
HHALO is led by landscape architect Hope Hardesty. We are based in Los Angeles and the Bay Area, and focus our work in California.

Hope designs landscapes + gardens that are informed by a vast knowledge of plants, a historically sensitive approach to the land, and an explorative sense of space. She has taught landscape architecture and the visual arts at USC, Brown University, and the Rhode Island School of Design. Originally from California, she holds a M.L.A. from Harvard University and a Bachelor of Arts in art and architectural history from Brown University. She is the founder of HHALO and a registered landscape architect in the state of CA.

Andres Perez
Andres brings a wealth of experience to the HHALO team as a consulting partner. Andres has worked on a variety of complex residential and large-scale campus and hospitality projects throughout California and Nevada. Trained as an architect prior to focusing on landscape architecture, Andres expertise in project management, construction detailing, and overall design is essential to enriching and elevating HHALO’s work. He is a registered landscape architect in the state of NV.
ANNIE HANSEL
Annie is a seasoned landscape designer with over twelve years of experience working in high-end landscape architecture firms in the Bay Area. She has overseen complex and award-winning projects from wineries to corporate campuses. With her excellence in construction and planting design, she is essential to expanding and enriching HHALO's work. Annie holds a Masters in Landscape Architecture from UC Berkeley.
LYNSEY COKE-FERREIRA
Lynsey is a an artist and landscape designer who hails from the UK. She started her journey as a landscape designer based in London, earning a diploma in Garden Design with the London College of Garden Design - Kew Gardens. After relocating to the US she went on to earn her Masters in Landscape Architecture at UC Berkeley. She brings valuable experience in northern California's residential, estate and winery landscapes to the team.
OLIVIA ILLGEN
Olivia is a landscape designer based in Marin. She has worked on projects from San Diego to Lake Tahoe and Marin while working and interning at some of the Bay's top landscape architecture firms. Prior to working with HHALO, she gained valuable experience working on projects in Southern California while based in San Diego. Olivia holds a Masters in Landscape Architecture from UC Berkeley.
